Toss: Anything pre-2010, cloudy, scratched, warped, lidless, or mismatched

Avoid for heat: #1, #2, #4, #5, #7 unless labeled microwave-safe

Never use for heat: #3 (PVC), #6 (Styrofoam), older #7

To-go containers: Fine for cold storage short-term; don't microwave them and don't keep them for months
